Fearless Wallet Integrates Ramp for Easy Fiat-to-Crypto On-Ramps

SORAMITSU is pleased to introduce Fearless Wallet’s integration with Ramp, to simplify the self-custodial purchase of crypto using fiat currencies. This integration makes Fearless Wallet the first Polkadot and Kusama wallet specializing in DeFi to integrate fiat purchase of crypto.

Earlier in 2020, we released Fearless Wallet, the first wallet designed for use on the Kusama and Polkadot networks. Even though Fearless Wallet is very slick and easy to use, not everyone has cryptocurrencies. For n00bs, the process of buying cryptocurrency is littered with barriers: multiple platforms must often be used in order to exchange from fiat currencies (e.g., EUR, USD) to specific tokens (e.g., XOR). Because Fearless Wallet focuses on creating outstanding user experiences in Kusama and Polkadot DeFi, it was a goal from early on to realize a simple way to enable in-app purchases of crypto, that is also fully compliant with regulations.

In cooperation with Ramp, we upgraded Fearless Wallet to ensure that anyone (in supported countries) can buy cryptocurrencies seamlessly. Fearless Wallet’s interface greatly reduces the complexity of key operations, making it possible to buy crypto using fiat in a few clicks. This new feature pairs with Fearless Wallet’s built-in Kusama and Polkadot functionality, promising to increase access to these groundbreaking networks and the vibrant ecosystem of communities and tokens they will host.

Why Integrate With Ramp?

Integrating Ramp with Fearless Wallet has enabled buyers to exchange fiat money for tokens directly inside the wallet, without having to send the tokens through an external exchange. It combines the security of a decentralized, self-custodial exchange and the convenience of a centralized exchange, to the benefit of users and the crypto community alike. One of Ramp’s biggest advantages is the ability to transact instantly, which makes it both faster and cheaper than traditional payment methods (e.g., cards or manual transfers). An advantage of real-time payment in the fast-moving world of crypto is that the user is guaranteed the price listed at the time the transaction is made.

The Fearless Wallet app is available for both Android and iOS devices, and supports the following payment methods:

Visa or MasterCard — Ramp enables users to carry out payments by credit card in a fast and easy way, ensuring accessibility to a broad user base worldwide. Its know-your-customer system is tiered, which means that for purchases above certain limits, secure verification by bank API, ID and selfie, and/or other means is required.
SEPA — Ramp supports SEPA money transfers, allowing very inexpensive payments for users who have the time.
Apple Pay — For iOS users, payments can be made and accepted with Apple pay.

Improvements in Fearless Wallet 1.1 and Future Releases

Fearless Wallet 1.1, which will be the next release, includes extensions and improvements. The first significant improvement is the UI, which keeps the operation of the wallet intuitive and avoids the need for complex instructions. The Actions menu, which contains the Send, Receive, and Buy buttons, has been improved for better clarity and convenience. The Send feature was also upgraded with additional checks. These are only a few of the features that distinguish Fearless Wallet from its competitors. Many more features will be introduced in 2021 — but we would like to give you a preview here.

SORAMITSU, Fearless Wallet’s designer, will implement the Polkaswap DEX. Users will be able to make instant trades without leaving the Fearless Wallet. Fiat on-ramps via Ramp integration will allow users to buy crypto and then trade it on Polkaswap.

The DEX interface has been designed with ease of operation as a primary goal. Users will be able to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies within the wallet itself. In the process of the upgrade, the token buying feature itself will also be improved by displaying pending purchase transactions in the transfer history on the wallet screen.

Another groundbreaking Fearless Wallet implementation is the staking function for Kusama and Polkadot. Users will be able to nominate validators and stake tokens to provide liquidity, thereby generating passive income within the wallet.

And that’s not all. Fearless Wallet will also incorporate Kusama and Polkadot governance functions, transforming it into an interface for deliberation and participation.
